Grounding
As a therapist, I strive for you to feel held: to feel cared for and understood, with the assurance that I am fiercely present and always in your corner. Above all, my goal is for you to cultivate a grounding sense of safety in relationship. When you feel seen, heard and valued for who you are, you can begin to explore the full spectrum of your humanity, and discover new possibilities of being.

I want to meet you exactly where you are, and support you in unearthing your own innate sense of worth, direction and ease.
Values
I enjoy supporting people of all genders in distilling their values from patriarchal ones, and reorienting to the problem of patriarchy with courage and integrity. Through the frameworks of Body Liberation and Health At Every Size (HAES), I work with clients of all body sizes and abilities to support them in discovering the innate goodness of their body as it is. I take an intersectional feminist approach to understanding the impact of systemic social forces (ex. racism, classicism, LGBTQ+ discrimination, ableism, anti-fat bias) on our developmental neurobiology. I take a pragmatic, biopsychosocial approach that attends to biological and social factors as much as psychological ones. This includes attending to the role of biological barriers for people assigned female at birth who may be experiencing endocrine related mood disturbances (ex. postpartum, premenstrual dysphoric disorder). I enjoy supporting parents in practicing connected caregiving with their children, and equally, with themselves. I have worked with parents, youth and children with disabilities for thirteen years, and I am passionate about supporting neurodivergent individuals in reclaiming the narrative of their lives. I believe that understanding processes of storytelling are central to understanding ourselves and others in the context of the storied world we inhabit.
My Approach
I take pride in transcending formulaic therapeutic approaches and oppressive cultural rhetoric with humour, critical thinking, and irreverence. My approach will never be to make you feel like you aren’t doing enough, but rather to celebrate what victory looks like for you outside of a social context that overvalues productivity. My work is driven by a disdain for toxic positivity, healthism, and lack of class consciousness in the health and wellness spheres. My approach is perhaps most deeply informed by a personal ethics of deconstructionism - a kind of faith in doubt which I believe supports an attitude of counselor as learner rather than counselor as knower. I take an integrated, individualized approach that emphasizes self-reflection and self-advocacy skills, to support clients in feeding the flame of their own life, while cultivating more satisfying relationships with others. Together, therapy will be a collaborative process of feeling our way into your world, so that you can begin to understand what is attempting to express itself in you. With increased awareness, you can make concrete shifts in your relationship to inner and outer conflicts, and gain insight into a compassionate and meaningful way forward.
Imagery and metaphor are central to my approach, as I have experienced first hand their utility in grounding thoughts, feelings, and meaning; to provide shelter and direction in the wilderness of the psyche; and facilitate a physical shift in the bodily way that myself or a client has a problem. I want to provide you with an opportunity to experience reverie, and join you in that reverie, so you can begin to dream a new way forward. Our relationship is a place where you can show up imperfectly, uncertain, and in process. I want you to feel free to question that process and receive transparent and accessible care. Our work will be creative, non-pathologizing, trauma-informed and evidence-based. I want to meet you exactly where you are and work with you to discover your own innate sense of worth, direction and ease.
